Homemade Idli dosa batter

Instead of buying idli batter at store, its always a healthy option to prepare at home. Ingredients
To Prepare Batter
- Idli rice or parboiled rice - 2 cups
- Poha - 2 tbsp
- Urad dal - 1/2 cup
- Methi / fenugreek / vendayam - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
Method
Lets Prepare Dosa Batter
- Wash and soak idli rice / parboiled rice in water. Add 2 tbsp of poha to it.
- Wash and soak urad dal and methi seeds in water in separate bowl.
- Let it soak overnight or minimum 6 hours.
- Drain water and add to blender.
- Grind both rice and dal separately to smooth batter.
- Add it to mixing bowl, add salt and mix well. (mixing with hands enhances the fermentation process quickly)
- Allow the batter to ferment for 7 to 8 hours.
- Homemade dosa batter is ready to prepare soft idlies & crispy dosa.
