Chats are very popular in India for its addictive sooper taste and aroma. Samosa chat is one of the famous chat recipe that tastes mildly spicy, sweet and tangy with irresistable flavors from spices. This lipsmacking chat recipe can be prepared at home very easily. The samosas are mashed and soaked in thick masala prepared & served with chilled yoghurt. Check out the easy recipe here!

Ingredients

  • Chana / kondakadalai - 2 cups
  • Samosa - 2 to 3
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli - 2
  • Onion sliced - 1 cup
  • Tomato mashed - 1 cup
  • Turmeric pwd - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli pwd - 1 & 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander pwd - 1 tsp
  • Cumin pwd - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Green chutney - 2 tbsp
  • Sweet chuntey - 2 tbsp
  • Chat masala pwd - 1 tsp
  • Sev to garnish
  • Salt to taste


Method

  1. Wash and soak chana in water for 6 to 7 hours or overnight.
  2. Cook until soft.
  3. Drain water and set ready.
  4. Store the water to add later in the masala.
  5. Heat oil in frypan.
  6. Add cumin seeds and wait to splutter.
  7. Add sliced green chilli, onions and saute for a minute.
  8. Add mashed tomato and saute until oil separates.
  9. Add turmeric pwd, salt, red chilli pwd, coriander pwd and cumin pwd.
  10. Cook for few minutes.
  11. Add cooked channa and toss with masala.
  12. Add drained water from the cooked chana and adjust the thickness of masala.
  13. Add finely chopped coriander leaves.
  14. Add samosas to the masala and mash it well.
  15. Turn off flame.
  16. The spicy masala is ready.

To Serve:

  1. Add masala along with mashed samosa to the plate.
  2. Sprinkle onions on it.
  3. Drizzle green chutney & sweet chutney. (here's the recipe to prepare green chutney & sweet chutney at home)
  4. Top up with few tsps of sweetened curd.
  5. Sprinkle cumin pwd, chat masala pwd & red chilli pwd.
  6. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and spicy sev.
  7. Lipsmacking delicious homemade samosa chat is ready.
  8. Enjoy hot with garma garam chai /coffee.
