Today's post is a traditional favorite snack from South Indian cuisine. It makes an excellent tea time snack and also a popular street food. It is originated in Karnataka and are quite famous in restaurants. My mil is an expert in preparing this golden crispy bondas. The main ingredients required are all purpose flour, rice flour, curd, green chilli, ginger, etc.

Ingredients   Cooking Time: 30 mins

  • Maida or all purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  • Curd or yoghurt - 1 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
  • Green chilli - 1
  • Grated ginger - 1 tsp
  • Cumin - 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep fry

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, add maida flour, rice flour and mix.
  2. Add cumin seeds, sliced green chilli, grated ginger, grated coconut, coriander leaves, baking soda and salt.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Add curd and combine.
  5. Add water little by little and mix to smooth dough.
  6. The consistency of the batter should be as shown in video.
  7. Let the batter sit for 30 mins.
  8. Heat oil in frypan.
  9. Wet your hands and take a small portion of the dough and drop it on hot oil.
  10. Repeat the same as such 4 to 5 bondas can be fried at a time.
  11. Deep fry on medium flame until the bondas turn golden brown and crispy.
  12. Drain from oil and take the bondas in kitchen tissue.
  13. Yummilicious mysore bondas are ready.
  14. Enjoy hot with chutney & sambar.
